What time does Survivor 51 start in my time zone?
CBS lists the season as 8/7c. That means 8 p.m. in the Eastern and Pacific zones and 7 p.m. Central, with Mountain viewers following their own affiliate's grid rather than a straight conversion from Eastern.

What is the "Open Era" on Survivor 51?
It is the season's theme and, according to Probst, its whole design. His description is that anything that has ever happened on the show, in any season, can now happen again at any time, in any order, without warning. Idols, advantages, twists and format changes from 50 previous seasons are all back on the table rather than parceled out one gimmick per year.
So players cannot plan around a schedule of twists. The premiere, "Permanent Uncertainty," sends one player off the beach on a mysterious journey right after the marooning, per CBS's synopsis, and its first tribal council sets two allies against each other.

How many tribes are there this season?
Two. Recent seasons opened with three tribes of six, and 21 players across two tribes cannot split evenly.
Tribe names and starting divisions had not been released the night before the premiere; they usually come out in the marooning.

After the Sept. 23 premiere, Survivor returns Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. ET in its 90-minute slot, and holds that Wednesday hour through the fall. CBS has not announced the finale date.
