AGT Quarterfinals 4 Runs Three Hours Tuesday β€” Start Time, Voting and Why There's No Results Show

Every quarterfinal round this summer has run the same way. Acts perform one night, America votes, results land the next.

Round four breaks that pattern.

The gist β€” Quarterfinals 4 airs Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on NBC as a single three-hour live episode, with voting and results in the same block.

What time is AGT on Tuesday night?

8 p.m. ET, running straight through to 11 p.m. That's a three-hour block instead of the usual two-hour performance show.

There is no new episode on Wednesday. If you've been setting a Wednesday reminder all season, drop it this week.

How does the voting work if results are the same night?

Voting opens during the broadcast and closes inside it. Results are announced before the three hours are up.

That's a real change in stakes. In the earlier rounds, viewers had overnight to rally votes for an act; this time the window is measured in minutes.

How did the quarterfinals get here?

Forty-four acts entered this stage, spread across four weeks starting Aug. 18. Three advance to the semifinals each week on the public vote.

One act skipped the whole process. A Live Golden Buzzer in round three sent 14-year-old singer Lai Noelle straight to the finals.

πŸ‘‰ Four rounds, but only three results shows. Tuesday absorbs the fourth.

What's left after Tuesday?

Two more weeks of live shows, then it's over.

πŸ’‘ Note β€” The semifinals go back to the split format. Perform one night, results the next.

Who is still in the running?

Nine acts have already booked semifinal spots β€” three from each of the first three rounds. Lai Noelle is through as well, though her Golden Buzzer sent her past the semifinals entirely.

Tuesday adds three more from the eleven performing that night. That closes the quarterfinals and sets the semifinal field.

The math is worth holding onto while you watch. Eight acts go home Tuesday night, in front of a live audience, inside the same broadcast where they performed.

Does the three-hour format change how you should watch?

It changes when you need to be in front of the TV. A normal AGT night lets you catch up on the performances later and still vote; this one doesn't.

If you're voting, be watching from 8 p.m. The window closes during the show, and NBC has said results follow immediately.

If you're not voting, the upside is that you get the whole round in one sitting. No waiting a day to find out who survived.

What else is on this week?

Tuesday is crowded. Bravo drops the RHONY season 16 premiere in the same 8 p.m. hour.

Midweek belongs to CBS and FOX: Big Brother 28 keeps rolling toward its finale run, and MasterChef reaches the first half of its finale. Our week-by-week rundown lays out all seven nights, and the fall guide covers what starts after that.
