Reality TV This Week, Sept. 7–13 — A Three-Hour AGT, a MasterChef Finale and Two Big Brother Nights

Monday is the softest night of the week. Labor Day tends to do that to a schedule.

Then Tuesday arrives and the week never really lets up.

What's the biggest night this week?

Tuesday, by a wide margin. NBC is running a three-hour AGT block from 8 to 11 p.m. ET, and Bravo puts the RHONY season 16 premiere in the same opening hour.

The AGT change matters more than it sounds. Voting and results happen inside that broadcast, so there's no Wednesday follow-up — details are in our quarterfinals breakdown.

Where does Big Brother stand?

CBS has kept the same two-night rhythm all season, and with the finale close enough to see, the Wednesday episode now functions mostly as setup for whatever the Thursday live show is about to undo.

It works.

Two episodes this week: Wednesday's episode 27, then Thursday's live eviction. The season is close enough to the end that every vote reshuffles the finale math.

Is MasterChef actually ending?

Part one of the season 16 finale airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. Part two follows the week after.

If you dropped off mid-season, episode 16 is the catch-up point.

What's worth recording versus watching live?

Live: Tuesday's AGT and Thursday's Big Brother eviction. Both resolve on air, and both get spoiled within minutes online.

Recorded: almost everything on Bravo and TLC. Those episodes hold up fine the next day, and several land on Peacock or Discovery+ within 24 hours anyway.

The one exception is a premiere. RHONY's season 16 opener will be picked over on social all Tuesday night, so watch it live if you care about going in clean.

How does this week compare to last?

Last week had three Big Brother episodes and no premieres. This week flips that — two Big Brother nights, one premiere, and a finale.

The total volume is similar. What changed is that the week now has two genuine appointment nights instead of a steady drip.

September usually works this way. The summer competition shows start closing out just as the fall premieres begin stacking up behind them.

Why is Monday so empty?

Labor Day pulls new episodes off the schedule almost every year. Networks assume nobody is home, and they are mostly right.

Bravo and TLC still put up new hours, which is why Below Deck Mediterranean and 90 Day carry the night on their own. NBC hands its 8 p.m. block to sports instead.

The upside is that Monday is the one clean night to catch up before Tuesday buries you.

What changed about the AGT schedule?

Rounds one through three each ran across two nights: performances, then a separate results hour the following evening. Round four does not.

Everything lands Tuesday between 8 and 11 p.m. ET — eleven acts, the vote, and the three names that move on.

Then the split format returns for the semifinals on Sept. 15 and 16.

Where can you stream these the next day?

Most of the week ends up on a streamer within 24 hours, which is worth knowing before you sit through a three-hour live block.

The one show that resists this is Big Brother. The live feeds and the social spoilers move so far ahead of the broadcast that a next-day stream is a different experience from watching Thursday at 8.

How many hours is this week, really?

Add it up and the week runs close to twelve hours of new unscripted programming across five networks.

Tuesday alone is four of those hours if you watch AGT straight through and add the RHONY premiere. That is more than Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday combined.
